Be Inspired – March 2024

It’s been six weeks since my mastectomy and reconstruction, and I’m just now easing back into movement and filming.

While I have some very clear directions from my surgeons and physical therapist, it still feels scary.

What exactly can I do? What can I not do? Is it better to rest? Is it better to keep moving? What if it hurts?

All of those questions swirl around in my brain as I rehab this body that feels unfamiliar to me. Sometimes it feels like it would be easier to just do nothing.

But here’s the thing…

Our bodies were not made to do nothing.

Our bodies were made to MOVE.

Just like a ship.

That ship may be safer in the harbor, but that’s not what it was built for.

Our bodies were not built to stay still and fearful.

We were made to move.

So while there is definitely a time and place for healing and rest, there is also a time and place for movement.

In this month’s members only podcast, I talk about my experience with this and how we can all encourage ourselves to move past the harbor and into the wide open sea. You can listen here.

My best,

Jessica
